Google has started rolling out firmware version 4.467 for Pixel Buds Pro 2 devices, and it has some excellent new features. The updated software is all about making the bud’s sound smarter, safer during everyday use, and spending more time hands-free with Gemini Live.
One of the new features rolled out is Adaptive Audio, which automatically adjusts the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s volume according to your surroundings. If you go through a busy sidewalk, ride through busy streets, travel in public transport, or work out in the gym, the earbuds adapt automatically so that you can listen to music, podcast, or audiobooks without missing things happening around you.
Another handy feature is also the Loud Noise Protection. Reducing noises such as a siren from a rushing fire truck or ambulance are annoying, but through this addition, your earbuds automatically detact and reduce such volume spikes. It’s also installed as a protective measure to safeguard your ears and render things safer to listen to in an unexpected situation.
Google has also implemented head gesture controls with this update which will helo you during calls and texts. No need to reach for your phone to accept or reply, or tilt your head to the side to refuse. This makes answering and making calls and messages an entirely hands-free expreience, and very convenient while traveling.
As a user of Gemini Live, the upgrade offers cleaner voice interactions with better audio processing. Your voice receives more focus while background voices are filtered out with better audio processing for your Gemini Live. This leads to smoother and more naturally flowing conversations, including in locations with plenty of background voices such as cafes or train stations.
The upgrade started September 25, 2025, and it’ll roll out over time to all owners of the Pixel Buds Pro 2. To receive the upgrade, keep your earbuds with a full battery level, place your earbuds in auto-pairing mode so your earbuds pair with your phone, and also maintain an updated Google app.
