Samsung’s next big thing in mixed reality is coming into view. The headset, internally known as “Project Moohan” and likely branded as Galaxy XR, has been subject to multiple leaks revealing its design, specs, and expected launch timeline.
Let’s break down what’s emerging — and what it could mean for Android’s XR future.
Display, Power & Visuals

One of the most striking revelations is the visual hardware. The leaks suggest the Galaxy XR will use dual 4K micro-OLED panels, combining for about 29 million total pixels and an estimated 4,032 PPI (pixels per inch). The chip expected to drive this is Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, which is tipped to support 4.3K per eye at 90 Hz performance.
Sensors, Tracking & Input

To provide an immersive experience, Galaxy XR is rumored to include a robust sensor suite: six tracking cameras (four front, two bottom), two color passthrough cameras, a depth sensor, and four internal eye-tracking cameras. These should enable hand gesture control, eye tracking, and voice input. The device is also expected to come with two 6-DoF controllers for more precise spatial input.
Weight, Battery & Comfort
One leaked spec: the Samsung Galaxy XR weights around 545 grams — significantly lighter than many competing headsets. Battery life is estimated to be last around 2 hours of regular use, with up to 2.5 hours in video playback mode.
Interestingly, leaks show an external power connector, possibly for an add-on battery pack to extend runtime. Comfort features may include adjustable head straps, internal padding, detachable light shields, and ventilation.
Software & Interface

The headset is said to run One UI XR, Samsung’s spatial interface built Android XR. The UI leaks include floating apps like Camera, Gallery, Maps, YouTube, Netflix, and others apps arranged in 3D space. A top bar in the interface may include shortcut buttons for Home, Search / Google, Gemini AI, and settings. Gemini integration is rumored to be there, possibly launched via a button long-press.
Launch & Pricing Expectations
The leaks suggest Samsung could launch the Galaxy XR in late October 2025, possibly around October 21 or 22, with pre-registrations opening mid-October. As for price, rumor range is $1,800 to $2,000 USD.
If these leaks hold true, the Galaxy XR could emerge as one of the most ambitious Android XR headsets with its balancing performance, comfort, and software into a plausible alternative to devices like Vision Pro.
