Xiaomi Introduces ‘HyperOS’: Unveiling New Features and Release Information

By Tapan Barman 5 Min Read

Xiaomi has officially introduced its latest operating system, HyperOS, during the launch event for the Xiaomi 14 series in China, fulfilling a promise made earlier. Over the past 13 years, Xiaomi has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding its user base from 100 million to a staggering 1.175 billion users worldwide. The brand’s product range now spans across a whopping 200 different categories.

In the age of the Internet of Things (IoT), Xiaomi encountered challenges in managing various device operating systems and ensuring smooth interoperability. To address these concerns, Xiaomi embarked on the journey of creating Xiaomi HyperOS back in 2017. The primary goal was to bring all ecosystem devices together under one integrated system, focusing on delivering peak performance, a consistent user experience, and seamless connectivity.

Core Technology: Linux and Xiaomi Vela

Xiaomi HyperOS leverages the power of Linux and Xiaomi’s self-developed Xiaomi Vela system. This unique combination enables it to efficiently work with a wide range of devices, regardless of their RAM size. Xiaomi HyperOS stands out as a lightweight operating system, utilizing minimal resources compared to its competitors.

Optimized Performance: Scheduling and Technical Modules

One of Xiaomi HyperOS’s standout features is its exceptional task scheduling and resource management capabilities. This ensures stable performance, even in resource-intensive scenarios. Technical modules, including file systems and memory management, are meticulously optimized to harness different hardware capabilities.

Cross-End Connectivity: HyperConnect

HyperConnect is a game-changer in terms of connectivity, offering users unprecedented control over all connected devices, no matter where they are. This functionality allows for seamless camera source switching during video calls, access to cameras from various devices, and smooth data transfer between connected devices.

HyperMind serves as the AI center of Xiaomi HyperOS, making devices proactive in understanding and fulfilling user needs. This means users can enjoy smart automation without the need for intricate logic comprehension.

Empowering AI: Large Foundation Models

Xiaomi HyperOS incorporates large foundation models that significantly enhance system applications. It enables features such as speech generation, image search, and AI artwork creation. Importantly, third-party apps can also harness the power of this AI subsystem.

Xiaomi HyperOS Features

Security Priority: TEE and Encryption

User security is a top priority for Xiaomi HyperOS. A dedicated hardware Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) safeguards sensitive information and extends this security to interconnected devices. End-to-end encryption is employed for data transmission, further fortifying user data protection.
